Just a few thoughts to ponder on from the prayer that Jesus sampled to us in Matthew 6. My focus is on verse 13: "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." This verse implies the need to totally surrender to God. It shows the weakness of humanity and the power of God. We, humans, cannot resist temptation on our own strength. It is impossible! This portion of prayer is a reminder for us to ask for God's intervention on our daily walk as Christians as we struggle with our fleshly tendencies.

Emphases on God's omnipotence:

It says, "For thine is..."

1. The kingdom [IN GOD]

God is in full control.Temptation manifests in various forms. It could be through our doubts, sinful habits, obsession or fleshly desires, etc. It is comforting to know that even if we are surrounded by these tremendous temptations, we can be assured that God still reigns. The kingdom is His.

2. The power [THROUGH GOD]

God can do all things. Nothing is too hard for the Lord. When facing huge temptations and trials, we can look unto God for deliverance no matter how difficult the situation is for us. In times of weaknesses, we should allow God to be our strength. We can overcome any trial through God’s power.

3. The glory [FOR GOD]

God is praiseworthy. When we desire and battle temptations as an act of obedience to God, He is glorified. Overcoming temptations actually turns out to be for our own good. There would be times in our lives when God would eventually reveal His purposes for every temptation or trial we have had. And we would see how He deserves our praises and worship! We are often shortsighted, but God never is. So, even when you don't understand now the "why", still praise God in the storm.

Nothing really is an acceptable reason for us to NOT submit and surrender our temptations and trials onto God.
