"His [God's] grace to me had been conspicuous and clear, strung like a banner across the sky. When I began paying attention, it changed the way I looked at everything. I started to see grace everywhere." - Lisa Velthouse

If Lisa Velthouse isn't familiar to you, maybe her famous book is. If you have heard the book Saving My First Kiss, well, she authored it.

I rarely re-read books. Once I've done reading one, I would just place it back on my shelf or lend it to a friend. But there's something special about this another book from Velthouse that makes me want to read it again. Mixed with gentle humor and practical wit, Craving Grace discusses God's grace amidst the personal issues of insecurity and sensuality.

On Velthouse's Saving My First Kiss, she declared her vow to God as the title of the book says. But at the moment of weakness and clouded thoughts, she broke her promise to the Lord. Her failure brought forth the publishing of Craving Grace. This book focuses on how vast God's love is towards His children. On its cover, Velthouse wrote that it is "a story of faith, failure, and my search for sweetness." It is a memoir about God's restoration. It is a humble admission of self-insufficiency and wholeness only through Jesus Christ.

I love easy-to-read books; and Craving Grace is one of them. I have never read Velthouse's first book and I honestly don't see a need to read it at this time. But Craving Grace is something I would recommend for everyone. We all have messed up in our lives on one point or another, and this book talks about the reality of it and the way to cope with failures. It is loaded with nuggets of wisdom and life lessons plotted in an interesting way of writing.
