That It May Be Well With You

Deuteronomy 6 entails the will of God for us to keep His commandments and statutes. Throughout the chapter, it was repeatedly mentioned that we should live a life of obedience.
When I reread the chapter last night, I noticed that there is another phrase that God has been repeatedly said: "That it may be well with thee..." (verses 3, 18) It's amusing how God has told us to keep His commandments and statutes over and over, but with an assurance that if we did obey Him, it will go well with us. In fact, on verse 24, a similar phrase has been used, "for our good always".
Sometimes we might think that God is a "killjoy" and doesn't want us to "enjoy"; that oftentimes "YOLO" would mean doing whatever we yearn to do, neglecting the seemingly shackles of God's commandments. But ironically, when you really ponder about God's desire for our obedience, it's actually liberating. Our obedience to God is for our good. It is through obedience that we'd be able to have the love and peace that we've always wanted. God rewards those who obey Him. John 10:10 says that Jesus has come that we might have life and that we might have it more abundantly. God doesn't hinder our joy, He is the real Source of it. A life lived for Jesus-- a life lived in obedience to Him-- is the only life that is well-lived.
Hope you'd share your thoughts on this.
